Peaceful Historic Location

This quieter part of Cumbria, the Solway Firth and Plain, is far from the beaten track, famous for centuries of tension between England and the Scots, typified by the struggle between Robert the Bruce of Scotland and Edward I of England, and among the turbulent Border Reiver families whose descendants, our neighbours and friends, now, thankfully, live side by side in peace.

Why not walk the Northern Fells, in Wainwright’s footsteps or climb Skiddaw by day before relaxing at night in the sauna or hottub at your lodge. Sheer Bliss.
